How is Guru Purnima Related to Teacher’s Day?

Teacher’s Day is celebrated all over the world but the date and time of celebration vary from one country to other. For example, in the US, teacher day is celebrated in the first week of May but the UK celebrates its teachers on 9 May. It is only in India that it is celebrated twice – Guru Purnima and 5 September.

What is Guru Purnima?

Guru Purnima falls on the full-moon day in the month of Ashadha (June-July). It is considered an auspicious day to honor the spiritual and academic teachers. But 5 September is the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President of India. Born on 5 September 1888 in a Telugu speaking Niyogi Brahmin family, he was a noted philosopher and statesman.

The Nun: Is it Conjuring 2 again?

The Nun is the fifth installment of Conjuring Series of gothic supernatural horror movies. But it is promoted as a spin-off of the 2016 movie The Conjuring 2.

Story of The Nun

A cloistered abbey in Romania witnesses a suicide by a young nun but there is a mystery surrounding this suicide.The Vatican decides to clear the mystery surrounding the untimely death of a nun and sends Father Burke, a Catholic priest, and a novice, Sister Irene, to investigate the matter. And what comes is a horrific tale of an unholy secret of the order. Both the father and the nun risk their lives but more than the life they risk their faith in investigating the mystery surrounding the suicide.

They brave the malevolent force that appears in the form of a demonic nun in the abbey. They want to run but their orders and their faith gives them the power to face the demon and uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of the nun.

Paltan Movie Review

Paltan: J.P. Dutta has developed a liking for making war movies

Paltan is J.P. Dutta’s third ambitious flick after Border (1990) and LOC Kargil (2003). This war drama is based on the real-life events of 1967 Nathu La and Cho La Clashes along the Sikkim border.

Story of Paltan

The Nathu La and Cho La clashes happened on 11 September and 1 October 1967 respectively. The People Liberation Army of China objected to Indian soldiers fencing Nathu La and opened fire when the Indian army continued fencing work despite fierce objections by their Chinese counterparts. In Cho La, the Chinese troops infiltrated into Indian-side of the borderwithout any provocation. The movie depicts the untold story of Chinese trespassing into the India side again and again and how Indian soldiers drove the Chinese away.
