Welcome to New York: Karan Johar does comedy for Chakri Toleti
It seems Chakri Toleti is relying more on big stars for his upcoming film Welcome To New York. It isn’t the first time that Toleti is directing a movie but it is his first Hindi movie. The star cast of the movie has big names including Boman Irani, Karan Johar, Sonakshi Sinha and Ritesh Deshmukh. But the story revolves around two characters played by Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha.
Here’s who’s who in the movie:
- Karan Johar is playing a double role in the movie but it could be a rumor. Nothing is certain about character of the founder of Dharma Productions but he’ll be connected to the central characters of the movie.
- Sonakshi Sinha is the lead female protagonist. She’s a budding fashion designer but has big dreams in her eyes. Her big ambitions take her to New York for a big Bollywood event that turns out to be a mess for her.
- Diljit Dosanjh is the male lead character in the movie. He’s playing role of a gabru jawan from Punjab. He’s a recovery agent eyeing big on the future. He tool lands in New York for the Bollywood event and finds him in a big trouble.
Story
Recovery agent Teji (Diljit Dosanjh) is a hard-working man but sometimes he employs funny ways to meet his recovery targets. The life of a recover agent is tough as he has to chase people all the time. His story mixes with the story of fashion designer Jeenat Patel (Sonakshi Sinha) who’s struggling to get a foothold on the crowded and competitive fashion industry. How they land in New York for a Bollywood event and what happens when they meet is the secret of the movie.

Chakri Toleti is quite excited about having all the big names of Bollywood in his movie.He recently told during an interview that working with big actors is an experience. He further revealed that the beauty of the movie is that all the big names complement each other.
Welcome to New York First Look & Poster
The colorful poster has all the stars in it. While Sonakshi Sinha and Diljit Dosanjh are seen in the middle, Karan Johar, Ritesh Deshmukh, Boman Irani, Rana Daggubti and others are seen flanking the lead characters. It is a 3D comedy movie and it is written on the poster. The poster has silhouette of New Yorkcity in backdrop.
