One million people watched Padmaavat amid protests
Padmaavat, the magnum opus of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was released all over the country except Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Goa. Approximately 1 million people watched the Padmaavat in 4000 screens and praised the movie. Also they didn’t find anything objectionable.
Story so far
Started as Padmavati, the film invited controversies due to the projection of the legendary queen Rani Padmini of Rajasthan. Various social groups were protesting against distortion of facts to make the movie more interesting. Rani Padmini performed Jauhar with others to escape from the clutches of Alauddin Khalji. But the movie shows the Alauddin romancing with Rani Padmini in his dreams. Another was objection was on the queen dancing before the king.
CBFC asked Bhansali to remove objectionable content to release the movie. Court also ordered in favor of the movie but nothing could stop the protesting groups especially the Shri Rajput Karni Sena. After much delay, Padmaavat was finally released on 25th January and it did fairly well on the first day.
