Tomb Raider: Alicia Vikander belongs to a new breed of feminist heroes

Tomb Raider is an action adventure film but it is turned into a Alicia Vikander vs Lara debate. Alicia Vikander is playing the lead role of Lara Croft in the movie but she’s said to be unfit for the avatar of a sexy lady of the 2013 video game of the same name.

Alicia Vikander is facing social media trawling over her role as Lara Croft. But her fans are defending her character. People are commenting on her slim figure and unresponsive facial features but her fans are standing by her side. She’s compared with the Lara Croft of video game and also with the Angelina Jolie who also played Lara in many films.

Story so far

The story is an interesting mixture of action, adventure and suspense. Lara Croft is a reckless wanderer but she’s the daughter of a millionaire. Her father Richard has a large estate and a partnership in a big firm. His partner Ana Miller contacts Lara Croft and persuades Lara to give up the reckless life to own the legacy of her father. Lara Croft unwillingly accepts her father’s office keys and sets on an adventure to an unknown island.

Lara Croft sets for an island in search of the research of his father. Richard found the mysterious queen of Yamatai, Himiko. The lady is called goddess of life and death as she could kill anyone by barely touching people. Himika is buried alive in an island. Lara Croft reaches that island in search of his father. He finds Richard on the island and the father-daughter duo unearths Himiko from her grave.

Himiko is suffering from a rare disease that spreads with such a high speed that infected persons die within a short time of coming into contact with the disease. The myth of Himiko is busted but there is the danger of the disease spreading. Richard decides to blow the tomb with a bomb after getting infected with the disease. Lara Croft also tries suicide with his father but was saved. But it isn’t the end of the story as the real suspense about Lara’s adventure is yet to unfold.

Alicia Vikander has captured the poster with her lean body for which she’s trawled on social media. This bow wielding woman looks intimidating to the antagonists of the movie and to her critics. She’s wearing a dark color t-shirt and her open arms, cleavage, neck and face are smeared with black color. The background is made holistic.

Why watch the movie?

Tomb Raider video game lovers won’t be disappointed to see the movie based on the game. It’s an interesting story of a brave but stubborn daughter who finds her father in the danger zone and comes back safe. The story has different levels like Lara Croft living a reckless life and setting out for an adventurous journey to an unknown island. On coming back, she gears up to fight to get her father’s legacy back from greedy business partners of her father.
